At the FedEx Ground facility in Henderson, NV, Frazier Concrete safely erected 150 individual tilt up panels in just four 8-hour days. Frazier placed 300,000 SF of slab-on-grade in just 8 placements, with the largest being 65,000 SF in a single pour. From foundation layout to panel erection, the FedEx facility was completed in record time, only 9 weeks. View project slideshow here.

In early 2012, Frazier became one of the first multi-state concrete companies to adopt robotic total station technology for standard layout tasks when they started using the iCON (Intelligent CONstruction) system from Leica Geosystems. Frazier’s leap to a robotic instrument (i.e., one that allows a single operator to control the total station from the prism by radio or Bluetooth) was groundbreaking. This way of working offers many advantages, compared to stringlines and tape measures. For example, most layout work can be done faster, with one man, rather than a two-man crew; the tablet PC provides connectivity allowing the upload of calculations from the CAD Operator directly to the field tablet; the ability to check the work of others thus helping to avoid very costly rework later. Furthermore, the layout is more accurate and final results are even better (i.e. floors even flatter). The use of the robotic instrument is leveraging Frazier’s previous investments in 3D CAD modeling, and may eventually lead to new services. Currently, Frazier has several employees trained to use the equipment, and two systems are constantly on the move from project to project. Frazier is proud to adopt the total station technology and leading the industry in finding new ways of doing things faster and more accurately. View detailed article here.

Frazier placed 65,000 SF or 1331 CYDS of concrete overnight in a single pour while utilizing two telebelts and two laser screeds at the Fedex Ground facility in Henderson, NV. It took only 20 hours from start of placement to completion of saw-cutting & curing. The project called for staffing 3 rotation shifts comprised of twenty five workers and received a remarkable floor flatness evaluation of 50/44 FF/FL. View slideshow here.

Frazier is proud to partner with AR Mays Construction to provide Structural CMU and Structural Concrete services on the Galaxy Theaters project, a 12-auditorium theater in Sparks, NV. The project is benefiting from the combination of masonry and concrete services provided by Frazier. This streamlines the procurement process, allows for seamless coordination between trades, and ensures each schedule and sequence is run as efficiently as possible. Just 9 weeks after starting the project, Frazier completed the foundation, slab-on-grade and topped out the CMU walls. View slideshow here.

Frazier Concrete rises to the technical challenges of providing structural concrete services at the Tamal Vista Apartments & Townhomes project located 10 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge in Corte Madera, CA. A majority of the foundations of the 6 multi-use buildings totaling over 105,000 SF, were founded in solid bedrock and had to be excavated using rock breaking attachments and large track excavators. Five of the buildings are 4-story wood framed buildings while one consists of over 1200 LF of cast-in-place structural concrete walls and a 30,000 SF cast-in-place concrete podium deck with three stories of wood framing above. Adding to the complexity of the project, the 6 buildings are being constructed simultaneously requiring superior supervision, staffing, and planning. The entire project is being laid out and constructed utilizing Frazier’s total station technology which has proved invaluable to aiding in accuracy of bolt layouts given the extent of the layout complexity of the over two hundred fifty framing and structural steel embeds and bolt patterns that each building required. The small size of the site presented further challenges in materials handling coordination and scheduling that had to be overcome. Frazier was proud to partner with P&S Construction to provide concrete paving and cast-in-place services at the Tactical Vehicle Wash Rack project at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA. The demanding schedule of this recently completed project called for the installation of 200,000 SF of 10” concrete paving in just two weeks utilizing 24 hour staffing. The project also included 22 vehicle wash islands with custom 5 foot tall bull noses; sidewalks and curbs; and 1052 LF of cast-in-place trench drains. View the project highlights here.

Hundreds of worshipers attended a three-hour Mass December 9th to consecrate USC Our Savior Parish and inaugurate the adjacent student activity building, called the USC Caruso Catholic Center. Frazier provided structural CMU, precast, brick veneer, and mechanically fastened stone veneer services for the new $29 million complex on USC’s campus, which can accommodate 300 worshipers and will become a religious and architectural landmark for the school and the neighborhood south of downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez led the consecration Mass. View project photos here. Read LA Times article.
