Frazier tackles challenging structural concrete project in Bay Area | 19 Jul 2013 |
Frazier Concrete rises to the technical challenges of providing structural concrete services at the Tamal Vista Apartments & Townhomes project located 10 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge in Corte Madera, CA. A majority of the foundations of the 6 multi-use buildings totaling over 105,000 SF, were founded in solid bedrock and had to be excavated using rock breaking attachments and large track excavators. Five of the buildings are 4-story wood framed buildings while one consists of over 1200 LF of cast-in-place structural concrete walls and a 30,000 SF cast-in-place concrete podium deck with three stories of wood framing above. Adding to the complexity of the project, the 6 buildings are being constructed simultaneously requiring superior supervision, staffing, and planning. The entire project is being laid out and constructed utilizing Frazier’s total station technology which has proved invaluable to aiding in accuracy of bolt layouts given the extent of the layout complexity of the over two hundred fifty framing and structural steel embeds and bolt patterns that each building required. The small size of the site presented further challenges in materials handling coordination and scheduling that had to be overcome. The "can do" attitude and the ability to make and meet commitments by every one of your team contributed greatly toward making this a successful project. We look forward to the opportunity to work together in the future.
